About College

With the eternal blessings of divine mother Saraswati, the Paliwal Educational Institution, since its establishment, has been embodying 'from a sapling to a banyan tree.' In 1945, it received recognition as a primary school. Subsequently, in 1948, a Junior High School, in 1951, a High School, in 1953, Intermediate (Arts class), in 1955, Intermediate (Commerce class), in 1958, Intermediate (Science class), and in 1961, Intermediate (Agriculture class) were recognized. Thereafter, with the approval of the Science branch (two-year course), the college was established in 1969. In 1990, following the state government's directive, the Bachelor's degree program changed from a two-year to a three-year program, and the University Grants Commission mandated a uniform curriculum across all universities and colleges.

Both educational institutions (Pali Inter College and Paliwal Degree College) are being operated by a parent organization (Paliwal School Association), and separate management committees for both colleges are formed as per the rules. The founder president of the parent organization, Mr. Vijay Ram Paliwal (Shikohabad), and secretary/minister Mr. Baburam Paliwal (Kusmura) have taken this important responsibility on their shoulders, which they have fulfilled with complete dedication and commitment. In this process, the selection of the management committee of Paliwal Degree College was done by the parent organization. Mr. Devdatt Paliwal (Agra) was selected as the founder president of this management committee, and Mr. Navinchand Mudgal (Shikohabad) was chosen as the founding manager. Mr. Baburam Ji of Firozabad also made a significant contribution as a key collaborator. Initiating any project involves facing various challenges in the early stages, but the way these five leaders have paved the way and provided speed and direction to the college is commendable. Although they are not all among us today, we have full faith that their blessings are reaching us all, and will continue to do so in the future.

At the beginning of the college, there was no building for it. College education started in four rooms of the tin shed of the inter-college agriculture class and four small rooms behind it. There were no separate rooms for laboratories and lecture halls. The sources of income were also limited; still, a lecture hall (current) and medium-sized room were constructed by the management committee. At that time, the number of students was low, and it was a two-year program.

Under the immediate and visionary leadership of the founding principal, Dr. Tarachandra Gupta, a well-organized schedule was implemented, ensuring neither indiscipline nor hindrance in education. This situation continued until 1990. In the same year, the founding principal, Dr. Tarachandra Gupta, took retirement, and Dr. O.P. Singh was appointed as the principal by the commission. With his appointment, he initiated efforts for the multifaceted development of the college.

In 1992, recognition for the Postgraduate (M.Sc. Mathematics) program was granted, followed by recognition for the Postgraduate Diploma (Computer Science) program in 1993. In 1997, approval was given for a three-year undergraduate program in Computer Science and Seed Technology. In 1999, B.B.A. (Bachelor of Business Administration) was approved, and in 2000, postgraduate programs in Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology were recognized. In 2003, postgraduate Computer Science was approved, and in 2004, a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Applications and Management was provided. In 2010, in the undergraduate science class, Economics was recognized as a subject. Currently, the college offers eight undergraduate programs, six postgraduate programs, and two diploma programs. While the college expanded its size in terms of courses, managing resources for libraries, laboratories, equipment, books, furniture, faculty, and non-teaching staff posed challenges. Nevertheless, the former management committee took measures to raise funds, including rent collection for the Pathwari building in Shikohabad, increasing rent from Firozabad shops, and raising donations from the Paliwal community. Additionally, financial support from the University Grants Commission, New Delhi, through various five-year plans, played a significant role. These funds enabled the college to establish a vast library, botany, zoology, and chemistry laboratories, five spacious lecture halls, equipment, books, student rooms, toilets, the principal's residence, postgraduate laboratories, and other facilities. As of today, the college has all the necessary resources for these programs. Due to these achievements, the college received a 'B+' grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore, in 2004. This milestone made this college the first affiliated college of Agra University to achieve such recognition.

In the meantime, Shri Devdatt Ji Paliwal (Agra), Shri Navin Chandra Ji Mudgal (Shikohabad), Shri Om Prakash Ji Paliwal (Jaithara, Etah), Shri Baburam Ji Paliwal (Firozabad), Shri Hriday Kumar Ji Paliwal (Agra), Shri Mahesh Chandra Ji Paliwal (Shikohabad), Shri Kailash Chandra Ji Paliwal (Shikohabad), Shri Vijay Ram Ji Paliwal (Shikohabad), Shri Satyadev Ji Paliwal, Shri Harishankar Ji Paliwal, Shri Siya Ram Ji Paliwal (Agra), and Shri Rajeev Meen Ji Mudgal (Shikohabad) successfully merged into the divine while playing their roles. We pay our heartfelt tribute to these courageous individuals.

All the teachers/educational staff appointed at the time of the college's establishment have currently taken leave. Among them, Shri Grish Chand Kulshrestha, Shri Umesh Chandra Datt Paliwal, Dr. Mahendra Pratap Singh Chauhan, and Dr. Hari Om Gupta have passed away. We all pray to the Almighty for their souls' peace.

In June 2013, Principal Dr. O.P. Singh took leave. Currently from September 2022 onwards, Dr. Praveen Kumar appointed by the commission is serving as the Principal.

In all the meetings of the College Management Committee, whether as officers, members, or invited participants, Shri Krishna Kumar Ji Paliwal (Agra) and Shri Mahesh Chandra Ji Paliwal (Shikohabad) have commendably contributed to the college's development initiatives by providing guidance and direction, which is a testament to their special dedication and creative thinking towards the college. The college expresses its special gratitude to them.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the college's establishment, we extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to them for their contributions to society, and we hope that all of us will remain vigilant for the benefit of the college. It is the duty of the Principal to establish coordination among all working teachers and educational staff, safeguard their interests, and actively participate in development activities.

We have full confidence that the Principal will succeed in achieving this goal. Currently, Shri Vijay Datt Ji Paliwal serves as the President of the Maternity Association, and Shri Rajeev Ji Mudgal is the Secretary/Minister.

Shri Rajeev Ji Paliwal serves as the Chairman of the College Management Committee, and Shri Rahul Ji Paliwal serves as the Manager, both of whom are currently serving in their respective roles.
